In the Box, Out of the Box

This piece was first created literally out of a block (box) of wood sliced in 8 pieces (drawn on with a Sharpie) for an art fundraiser in Grosse Pointe, MI. It occurred at nearly the same time as a box show fundraiser at the Detroit Artists Market. Boxes and blocks were on my mind. In the fall of 2008, i traced photos of the work on the computer and relettered (also on the computer, thankfully), and rewrote page 5, as the context worked for the art show but not for it in this new form. It's not quite a comic, but it's related. Anyway, that's that. - N

Chrysalis

This comic created in summer of 2007, was the first done entirely digitally. Mostly just a test of the tools, with the hopes of speeding up some elements of the process and making lettering legible! - N

A Conversation with Charles

This piece was created in Spring of 2006 for an exhibition at the Detroit Artists Market. I am currently working on a biography of Charles McGee for Wayne State University Press - due out as soon as I can finish the text!
